[CVALE] A few questions

I'm new to this list/organization. By way of introduction, I'll say that
I've very little Linux experience, though I've worked with various
UNIXes in different capacities for over 15 years. I thought I would
try to generate some traffic with a few retarded questions.

- Anyone know anything about RHCT and RHCE certifications?
Do they carry alot of weight with prospective employers? I know
the exams are tough, but how tough? Has anyone here taken one?

- What goes on at a typical installfest? Is there a dress code? I'm thinking
of
puttiing Debian on one of my machines and I am sure I will get stuck,
would it
be appropriate to bring the machine to an installfest and beg for hands
  on assistance?

- Speaking of Debian, anyone have any suggestions for other distributions?
I'm thinking of stability and ease of use. Also important, I have an old
E-Machines box, I'm concerned about the graphics card not being
supported: currently the machine is running an old version of redhat, like
7.3 or something, and the install did not configure something right, so
some graphical apps dont work. is there a way of finding out if a given
distribution
will support the graphics adapter in my machine? Also, Id like to run the
gnome desktop possibly with 2 monitors - is this something that a given
distribution would be required for or rule out?

Thats all for now, thanks in advance for any response.

David
