If you hear about it let me know?

I have just started learning about LINUX after my 50 millionth crash of WINXP.
I'm willing to try anything to replace the WIN mess. I've downloaded about 6 or so Linux Distribution ISO CD's (bootable and Live) for my P4 system. I burned cd images as bootable and am using a dedicated HDD for the installation. I am not allowing WINXP to be on the same machine so that I control the "damage" to my system. So far, NONE of the installs have worked! SUSE 10.1 desktop LIVE CD takes about 1 hour or so to get running. But for some unknown reason, I can't get it to install. I've disabled as many features on my MOBO as possible and it still won't install on the HDD. Nothing unusual about my system. I am running 1 Gb PC3200 RAM and 512 MB video RAM.

I tried Debian 31r2 i-386 ISO, Kubuntu desktop i-386 6.06.1 iso, Kubuntu (as before) LIVE CD, PClinux 0.93 a junior,PClinux 0.93 Big Daddy 0.93, PCLinux Minime 0.93, VLSOHO 5.1.2 LIve and install, plus Ubuntu various flavors, some others.

I receive no error messages about my hardware or configuration, only error messages about either the install or the "package". I checked each package before each install, they all check out (MD5, checksum, etc). The SUSE 10.1 DVD install is a new DVD I bought (not a download). I checked all the message boards and it looks like LINUX is about where WIN 95 was when it was still on floppies. Haha. But at least I don't have to pay $55/hour "customer support" charges to an idiot at Microsoft who knows less about the OS than me!
