A newer accounting package that is available open source or under
license is Quasar from Linux Canada. It can be downloaded from several
sites. Requires the use of Sybase or Postgesql, or firebird. The company
primary market is retail point of sales. Also check their mailing lists
they are very active. I am looking at the retail package for use in
pharmacies There is also lots of documentation available. . You can
download source code and build it your self , or download it in rpms.
Software is modular only retail point of sale requires license. Linux
and Windows clients are available.
