Here is the information we needed to diagnose my network connection
problem.

The NIC is a 3Com 3c905c-Tx/Tx-M [Tornado]

Here is the output of the ifconfig -a command:

Here is the contents of the resolv.conf file:

Here is the output of the dhclient command:

Well you are missing quite a few key bits. What is the output from
these commands:

ifconfig -a
route -n
cat /etc/resolv.conf

if you are running DHCP on the network try running dhclient from the
command line.

Hmmm... also, what type of NIC is it running?

I'm really scratching my head on this one guys.

I successfully installed Ubuntu Linux from the liveCD on one of the
computers at work. Everything worked great, including my internet
connection.

My IT Guy wanted me to walk him through the installation process, so I
installed Ubuntu a second time. (I'll make a convert out of him yet.)
The installation went the same as before, except for this time I can't
connect to the internet. I can view the network card in the device
manager, but no connection.

Nothing has changed from the first install to the second, and I checked
the physical network connection. Are the Linux gods angry with me for
sharing their secrets with an IT Guy? What could be an explanation for
the loss of internet connection between installations?

Thanks for the help.

P.S. - I posted a question on the Ubuntu user forum, but I didn't get
much help.
