[CVALE] Linux Kernel Developer Quit

I haven't been following the kernel development closely recently but...
kernel developers come and go all the time. Is he someone particularly
important? I don't recognize the name.

There are also talks about forking the kernel for various reasons every year
or two and nothing ever comes of it. On the scale of things kernel bloat is
one of the least bothersome issues as far as performance goes in Linux. #1
many features are simply not compiled in to your kernel or compiled as
modules and never loaded. #2 The desktop environments cause an order of
magnitude greater performance bottle necks than the kernel.

For the desktop the bigger issue with the desktop side involve the whole
proprietary video drivers versus open source kernel issues. I haven't
tracked it but I don't see how Linux can really take off on the desktop when
the distributions are all forced to ship with sub par video drivers and
installing new ones is a PITA. Maybe the new ubuntu fixes this, I haven't
installed a Linux in a while.
