By the way, not long after I asked about it, I did figure out how to 
accomplish this with squid, and it is quite trivial.  This setup, with 
transparent proxying, dhcp served static addresses and daily access 
reporting, would make an ideal kiddie-filter, for instance.  I set this 
up for a business that was concerned employees weren't getting enough 
work done.....

If anyone is interrested, I *might* be able to demo it onsite for a 
meeting.....
