As with nearly every question related to computers, the answer is, "It
depends." My experience using Fedora & Ubuntu boxes on a Windows
network leads me to believe that you can do this fairly easily, but it
will be easier with some printers than others. (FWIW, we use HP
LaserJet 4's and their ilk with Ethernet-enabled JetDirect cards, and
this setup works fine with Linux.) The more recent releases of Samba
are better at this than they used to be, not surprisingly.
