[CVALE] Printing on Linux

CValers,

I hooked up my HP 6840 Deskjet Printer to my Debian Linux box last
night, and I was able to print a page without too much trouble.

However, I didn't find the printing preferences that were available on
my Wife's Windows XP computer. These preferences allow the user to
control things like printing quality, printing speed, and whether or not
to use color ink. I'm thinking that printing preferences dialog I
usually see on Windows XP probably is part of the driver that isn't
supported on Linux.

Is this correct?

Is there a workaround I can use to control the same printing preferences
on Linux that I control on Windows XP?

Thanks,

SLB
