At work we have a small peer network four desktops, three of which are Linux
boxes running database apps. we log on to them with putty that works fine.
The fouth is a Windows XP sp2 with a shared doc folder that has lots of open
office docs that I need to get to from Linux boxes. There are also 5 laptops
that come and go 4 are running WinXP and they also have shared doc folders.
The fifth laptop, mine, is running Fedora 6 and I sometimes need to open docs
on the other laptops too. If I use a winXP box I can open open office files
across the network, but from what I'm reading on the net the linux version of
open office dosen't allow you to open files across the network. Is what I
need a mounted samba share on my lap top for each of the other PCs. What
happens when laptops come and go from the network. I have this 600 page samba
manual and my progress at this point is just butt ugly. SO, hints tips
pointers direction and hand-over-hand training eagerly sought. Does
KNetAttach do this? i haven't got it to work. Does it work on Fedora 6 or is
me just broken again.
Okay next on my list of woes. I can connect with Winxp shares with smbclient
and drill down to the directory where the files are. There are way to many
files for ls to be useful most scroll of the top. When I try to ls -l|more at
the smb/ prompt I get a invalid command message. My goal is to display the
files so that I can use get and put commands. So can someone please clean up
my syntax.

I'm in stockton, If this project intrests anyone we could meet and Java Aroma
on Pacific AVE and I'd gladly Provide the pizza and beer.

Thanks Lonnie
