I could have really used some help recently learning how to create a custom linux boot cd, or custom embedded (onto compact flash or sd card) system. Still could actually. Spent tens of hours on it over last week, and the weekend and ended up with an iso of PCLinuxOS that is *perfectly* customized.... only to find out that it is ~900mb and therefore is not burnable (doh!!!) How the hell can you create a 900mb remaster from a 625mb distribution?!? At least it boots perfectly in my virtual machine.... Now how to trim it by 200mb.... :-/

I also think this is a good idea. I could help with Java programming
topics and questions about management of open source communities,
choosing an open source license, and that sort of thing...

That's actually a good idea. Along those lines, I'd be happy to help
out anyone
that's are interested in playing with OpenSolaris. I can also certainly
help
out on any programming questions - it's a nice break from work stuff.

wonder if there might be interest in expanding the sphere of interest of
CVALE to include all FOSS and related issues. One reason, I think, that
linux users groups have become irrelevant, is because they were, in
their day, so successful - linux is decidedly mainstream now compared to
then, and much easier to install (and after all, the lifeblood of CVALE
and lugs in general were always the "installfest").

you guys about the BSD's, or how to implement Vyatta or Asterisk, or
open source programming languages, etc., than I am in linux per se. We
may catch more fish if we cast a wider net.
