[CVALE] New Purpose For CVALE?

Funny factoid about PCLOS... It's a Mandriva derivative that uses APT
instead of YUM. I thought it was a debian-based distribution.
Factoid #2 about PCLOS: my cousin is the current lead of the project.
Small world, huh?
BTW, Patrick, it's ironic that you mention the BSDs. I had the
pleasure of doing a minimal install of FreeBSD 7.1 under VMWare Fusion
over the last week. Started out with the FTP install, then did a
buildworld, rebuilt the kernel, installed ports, installed screen and
bash, then built KDE.
Damned ports don't use multithreading in the build precess. Whereas
the buildworld and kernel only took about 45 minutes, building KDE
took over 16 hours. (this included all the package deps and whatnot)
I would love to see this group prosper - it's the main reason I got as
far into linux as I did. Glad to see that email wasn't legit. ;-)

Spent tens of hours on it over last week, and the weekend and ended up with an iso of PCLinuxOS that is *perfectly* customized.... only to find out that it is ~900mb and therefore is not burnable (doh!!!) How the hell can you create a 900mb remaster from a 625mb distribution?!? At least it boots perfectly in my virtual machine.... Now how to trim it by 200mb.... :-/
