I think Patrick is right, this does indeed appear to be a phishing
scam. If you read carefully you'll notice it's not for domain renewal
but a search engine placement service: "your Domain name search engine
registration". Doing a simple whois turns up the domain is still
through Dave Reinhardt who is reselling for Tucows. Don't send anyone
a cent.
As for the group, well you guys are great. I'm still a linux
enthusiast and have Ubuntu running on 2 computers at home. Maybe we
can use this as fuel to fire the group up again.
