Nick,

I could do a Saturday afternoon. I have also offered up my garage, which
is in South Stockton. I have wireless DSL available at the house.

So what about Saturday? I know Modesto is out of the way, so how about
finding a place in Stockton or Tracy. I would be willing to travel to
Tracy to get some tips, coupled with getting some lunch. I think it
would be best if it is a work lab plus speakers meeting. If there was an
internet cafe some where that would be great, but I don't think they
exist anymore.

Thursdays are impossible for me. Sadly, so is pizza. :-( Allergic to
both the friggin' gluten (bread) and the tomatoes... pizza is misery.
But I'd rather brown bag it on a Friday than miss it on a Thursday. As
a rule I'm free on most any night but Thursday, so do I hear Tuesday
anyone?? -p

Tuesday's work well for me, since I usually telecommute that day.

I could make a Tuesday work, but I'd have to check with the wife. I'd
need to chase people out around 9 PM, because I'm usually up between 4AM
and 5AM. (I am a little more relaxed on Friday.)

It might be tough to make food work for everyone's diet. It was just a
thought. :] Maybe we could do a simple potluck? That way everyone could
bring a dish they knew they would eat.

If we don't like Friday, what about Tuesday the 14th of April?

I wouldn't mind hearing some about MySQL and Patrick's talk on Home
Internet Router Steroids sounds interesting. I put up a proposed meeting
agenda on the wiki page:

http://bluwiki.com/go/Cvalespeakers#Tentative_April_CVale_Meeting

I thought we could have two (2) 30 minute talks and then a 30 minute
troubleshooting session to help members with there tech problems.

Let me know what you guys think.

Any mid-week days fail for me. But then again, it would be difficult
for me to make any meetings at this point in time anyway as I live in
Santa Clara and am looking at the end of my current contract with no
future work lined up yet. :-/

I'll keep hope alive for y'all. :-D

If a Wiki was set up I could contribute things, like installing Oracle
on Linux.

What do others think about this? I remember back in the day we used to
have 1 kind of high-level presentation (like maybe how to setup bind,
for example) that we really tried to sink our teeth into, and then
sometimes a second, fluffier, topic (eg. one time I did one on an early
password manager desktop program). I'm worried 2 30 minute
presentations might be both too much for my brain, and not enough time
devoted to a topic that might need it. For eg., I could certainly
introduce DD-WRT and go over the feature list and use-cases in 30
minutes, but I couldn't demonstrate how to flash your router with it, or
do any hands-on stuff.

On that note, do we have a projector or large screen we can use for
presentations??

I really love food. Seems to make a small get together more enjoyable.
Will a simple potluck work for the others? (Just heard a medical report
that said we should really cut back on our red meat consumption.) :]

Patrick wrote: " Friday's not bad for me.... so far it seemed like the

Maybe we should take a quick tally. I'm +1 for Friday.

Let's change it to a single topic then?

I can borrow a projector and screen from my job if we need it. I also
have a laptop we can use to run the projector. My garage isn't headed,
so bring your jacket. :]
